Flink: "Oh I shouldn't have said that, that was mean.."

Friend: "You're not being mean."

Flink: "I do, I think that was kind of mean.."

Friend: "You always say shit like that. You were just being no different than you always are - that's why I love you."

Flink: " That's not a very good point of analysis"

Friend: "Wait. So now you're criticizing me for loving you because you're an asshole??!!"

Ah yes. Friendship is not license to stop the flow of truth. Richard's got me reading "Good Intentions: The 9 Unconscious Mistakes of Nice People." Luckily my mother has no such scruples, so all my mistakes are faults of my own.

I think I do not suffer from the problem of too mcuh kindness...

Maybe the opposite. I am un-intentionally unkind sometimes, because I think it's funny. Or else I think people enjoy being teased when they don't.

Or I just say harsh stuff, because it seems self-evident, and thus, non-harmful when it isn't either.

I need to read a book called "Knowing when to keep your (expletive) trap shut.."

ps: I think I left a comment on your blog but it didn't show up....;

Who's this wise and hilarious "friend" of flink's? She sounds very, very good looking.
